Class is in session! In this video, I will give you an introduction to JavaScript. If you have never seen or worked with JavaScript before, this video will get you started with understanding this essential programming language that is used to drive the modern world wide web. From this background in basic JavaScript, I will then show you how you can use some basic JavaScript code to create some simple web pages with interactive maps using the Esri ArcGIS API for JavaScript. More specifically, I show you how you can use the VS code environment along with the live server tool to begin building interactive web pages that use JavaScript.
If you master the techniques I show you in this video, you will be well on your way to doing more advanced JavaScript programming and unlocking the power of numerous web mapping APIs such as Google Maps, Mapbox, Esri and more. This tutorial was recorded during one of my lectures at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
