Pyramid Chart in Chart JS
How to create a pyramid chart in chart js. With Chart JS creating a pyramid chart does not work out of the box. However, there is a way to do it with some nice and clever adjustments with the current chart js options.
To create a pyramid chart we need to do three things. We need to convert out chart into a horizontal stacked bar chart. This will convert the chart and stack the values besides each other. Once we did that we need to play tricks on creating negative values to make it look like both ends are like two seperate charts. For this we will be using callbacks on the tooltip and as well on the x-axis. So visually it looks correct but in reality we have a positive and negative scale on the x-axis.
We will be creating in chart js a population pyramid. As creating a pyramid chart in html is quite uncommon and using javascript callbacks with Chart JS is the perfect solution.
This is a more advanced topic but very rewarding to create. This is a great topic to explore!

▬ About Us ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Why we created these #chartjs and #javascript video tutorials?
WHY
Creating charts in javascript is very rewarding but extremely challenging. The Chart JS library made it easier to render charts. However the chart js documentation is hard to understand for many. It requires a lot of different moving parts to work along. The canvas tag, javascript, arrays and Chart JS all need to be combined to draw an eye catching bar chart or line chart.
The videos explains the chart js documentation in a more visual and easy to understand way. You can follow along with the code and quickly grasp how it works. We cover the code in chart js but also what truly happens and why something happens when we write a line of code. This fundamental understanding gives clarity to you as a developer in chartjs. In short it is the Chart JS video documentation.
