In this YouTube video, we explore the Ethiopian Coffee industry, and how coffee cultivation has shaped the country's economy and culture. Ethiopian coffee is widely regarded as one of the best in the world, thanks to the high altitude at which the beans are grown, resulting in a more complex and intricate flavor profile. Despite facing political turbulence and economic hardship, coffee remains Ethiopia's most significant export, accounting for 5% of its GDP and 60% of its export earnings. The majority of coffee production in Ethiopia comes from small-scale farmers, with approximately 15 million people relying on some aspect of coffee production for their livelihoods.
Throughout the video, we explore the impact of coffee on Ethiopian culture and economy, as well as the challenges facing the coffee industry in Ethiopia, such as climate change and the threat of extinction of coffee species.
