Learn how to write your next paper, report or even your thesis in MyST Markdown to create PDFs and interactive web articles.
MyST Markdown is an open-source, community-driven flavour of markdown designed for technical writing and scientific communication. MyST makes a new set of syntax available on top of Markdown that adds support for common scientific document elements like figures, captions, and (most importantly) citations, cross-referencing and auto-numbering features.
In this webinar you'll learn about:
- new features that MyST adds to Markdown for scientific papers
- getting your local environment set up with myst.tools
- publishing your work online as a rich interactive website
- generating a submission-ready pdf for a preprint service or journal
- combining MyST and Jupyter Notebooks for extra superpowers
Format
The webinar will be in the form of a walkthrough with Q&A as we go, followed up with time for discussion at the end. Some familiarity with Markdown, a text editor like VSCode and working on the command line will be helpful but not at all essential. If this is the start of your Markdown writing journey, you’ll get a jump start from this webinar too.
